Introduction

How do you showcase the invisible foundation that powers our digital world? How do you make the complex story of global supply chains feel personal and immediate?

That was the challenge SAP presented for their flagship customer event. At Sapphire 2024, we transformed their central booth into an immersive journey through the lifecycle of microchips, the tiny yet mighty components that drive everything from smartphones to smart cities.

Our mission: make visitors feel the pulse of digital transformation and understand SAP's role in orchestrating the complex systems that keep the world running.

Challenges

Creating meaningful connections at a trade show of this magnitude requires more than impressive visuals. With thousands of attendees from diverse industries and cultural backgrounds, we needed to craft an experience that would resonate universally while remaining deeply engaging. And we had just five months to make it happen.

The challenge was threefold: demonstrate SAP's sophisticated software solutions in tangible ways, create personalized experiences for each visitor, and tell the complex story of semiconductor supply chains without overwhelming or boring our audience. Every element had to work seamlessly together, from real-time machine demonstrations to interactive digital content, while maintaining the flow and energy essential for trade show success, all within an accelerated timeline that demanded precision and agility from day one.

Solution

We centered our approach on the universal language of innovation: microchips. These essential components became our storytelling vehicle, guiding visitors through a clear narrative from raw materials to finished products.

Translucent walls created intrigue while maintaining flow, directing visitors through distinct zones: production facilities, offices, and smart homes. The real magic happened through personalization: on-site machines produced unique key cards for each visitor, unlocking tailored digital content throughout their journey.

Live demonstrations with real customer machinery made abstract processes tangible, while LED walls, 3D animations, and augmented reality created a multi-sensory environment. Visitors didn't just see SAP's capabilities, they experienced them firsthand.

Results

The booth became a destination within the trade show, drawing crowds who stayed longer and engaged deeper than typical exhibition experiences. Visitors left with personalized key cards as tangible reminders, but more importantly, with a clear understanding of how SAP enables businesses to navigate complexity and drive innovation.

Our innovative approach earned two IF Design Awards, for interior architecture and mixed media, recognizing the seamless blend of physical and digital storytelling that made microchips the foundation of an unforgettable narrative. The story resonated across industries and cultures, while the sustainable design approach reinforced SAP's commitment to responsible innovation, with booth elements designed for reuse in future events and experience centers.
